Pick Yer Pod (Bubblegum 7 Pot)

Hey, got my seeds today, along with the sample pod! Eat your heart out Adam! I didn't get Reaper seed, just another pod with seed of the BBG7. :D

I've got a SFRB of Judy's Reapers drying in the dehydrator though, so no worries by me.

Thank you very much! Sounds fantastic! I look forward to trying it out. Are these reaper seeds isolated or OP? Thanks again!

These Reaper seeds are isolated to the best of my ability. I feel 100% confident that they will grow true.
Here is how I isolate them "to the best of my ability".

I live in the city so there is no way I can know for sure exactly how close the nearest pepper plant is growing. I can't tell you for certain if there is someone growing some peppers within a 1/4 acre, a full acre or even within a mile from my grow sites. What I can say for sure is that none of the yards that border mine have any type of veggie garden at all growing. I have also checked out the yards that they border with and they also have no veggie gardens.

Here is a pic of my three seed producing Reapers.

As you can see they are surrounded by other flowering plants.
There is petunias, marigolds, basil and white clover growing in the pots with the Reapers.
Growing around all that is a wild grape vine, a huge luffa vine, many tomatoes, some pole beans and whatever "weeds" that grow around the pots.
There are a lot of different non-pepper flowers for a critter to visit.
I feel that the odds of some type of insect causing an accidental cross is near zero percent.

I also have isolated in a similar fashion the BBG7, Jay's Peach Bhut and one weird unknown that I have.

Here is a sneak peek. I want to leave them on for a few more days to see their full potential.

All in good time, my friend.
Thank you, ocho, for explaining your isolation method. I trust your seeds.

I got reaper seeds from ocho last year and the pods look great.
Fantastic! That's great to hear! These reaper seeds will definitely be on my next years grow list. Thank you!
I've never grown out BBG7 before. Does the calyx bleed while ripening or long after they have ripened?

Ocho, got my seeds yesterday. I was wondering what was taking so long, but at no fault to you the great USPS decided to deliver the only piece of mail I cared about to my neighbor, whose home is just a vacation home that they visit on the weekends.

So unfortunately they have been in their mail box all week. Hopefully they did not cook. I am lucky in that they know me well, and knew they were seeds for me, so they called me as soon as they got it. Any other neighbor out here I most likely would have not gotten them at all.

I just pulled 30 + well ripened pods off my BBG’s and none have any calyx at all to speak of. Not even as much as the first 4 I showed you in those photos I sent you. They all look like my 7pot SR pods. They’re nice looking just not BBG’s. Yours look great.  I can’t wait to try to grow these. Thanks again.

I received a very nice package from Ocho today. I was just expecting 1 piece or 1 dried pod of BBG7, instead I received 2 dried BBG7 pods, 1 fresh BBG7 pod, 1 fresh reaper, and 1 fresh Jay's Peach Ghost Scorpion! Amazing looking pods:

I can't thank you enough for your generosity! Everything looks fantastic! I am definitely deseeding all of these. Thanks again, Ocho!

Dr. Pepper aka Ocho Cinco: I am glad that they turned out well for you! Enjoy your beautiful harvest. Perhaps later in the year we can swap some of our BBG seeds with each other to keep the genetic line strong and diverse.

So after many months, I now have a BBG7 plant grown from seed from pod #4. I absolutely love this plant! It appears to be growing true. I'm so excited. Everything is far from ripening, but here is a pic of a newly formed pod. Look at the size of the calyx! Thanks again, Ocho Cinco!

Absolutely, Dr.P! In fact, I went outside right after reading this to try and isolate a couple pods using the white glue trick. It worked well for me inside, so let's see if I can keep the rain off of them. Lol.
