Pimenta da Neyde x Bhut Jolokia F1

very good lookin plant the purple really accents it well thanks for explaining all the f1-f8, have a better uderstanding of it now,.

I was just reading about the F1 crosses last night, I fell in love with the pimenta tiger cross, it reminded me of the pepper of death that Homer Simpson had if you remember that particular show, SW Virginia is zone 8? with a heated green house you could get two seasons which would cut your time in half.
I love the color of the plant and the pods, you could also out cross to a fish pepper that has stripes to strengthen the striping genes, but since its only mildly hot it might change how hot the pepper might be unless you selected for heat also.
At any rate really nice photo's of the pepper and good luck with your cross.

About a zone 5 or 6 where I am, the higher elevation makes it a little cooler.

First fruit:

The fruit are getting sun tanned, but otherwise look very much like bhuts, so much so that if this wasn't grown from a P. da Neyde seed, I wouldn't be sure it was a cross.

Pics taken today:

You can see the shape, with the chambers, just like a bhut:

I could have let it ripen a little more, but couldn't resist... very hot, more like a bhut, but you can also detect that P d. N flavor in there:

These F2 seeds have been sown, now to patiently await any purely purple seedlings that pop up.
