pineapple salsa

i saw some pineapple salsa in trader joe's today and bought 2 12 oz jars. i minced/chopped 3 fatallis and added them to one 12 oz jar of the salsa. 1 was all yellow, 1 was 1/2 yellow and the 3rd was mostly green. the fatalli's pineapple taste goes nice in the pineapple salsa.

Good job TJG. I don't see anything wrong with spicing up a pre-made sauce. How was it?

TB's right, BTW, homemade is better and sometimes cheaper...but I applaud your effort.

But...
Maybe you sampled the sauce, thought it tasted good but needed more heat, and then stepped it up with some fatalis.
Nothing wrong with that!!!!

Well done!!!

the salsa from tj is not hot at all but had good flavor and the pineapple caught my eye. adding the fatallis really gave it some heat. $2 for 12 oz and no work.

my hand at making hot sauce has been so so and this is salsa, i don't have any tomatoes that are worth eating. i have several on the table but of the 2+ dozen i kept after pulling the plants 8 or 9 days ago, most have been sour. once we get into october the weak sun, short days and cold nights ruin tomato taste and they often have rot.

Pineapple salsa. Al pastor tacos. Heaven.

pics or it didn't happen.

Not your typical color for pineapple salsa, certain store bought brands use tomatoes, puree's and pastes due to cost of pineapples vs. tomatoes,

hence, less of the main product.... :(

i like the tomato base tho and if i had some crushed pineapple i could add some to it. i'll have to get a can next time i'm in the store.

Some salsas are fruit-based, some are tomato-based w/fruit. I've seen both and do not find this one unusual.
