When growing a pineapple...what is the lowest temperature it can take?
And how long does it take to grow a pineapple fruit?
 
pineapples are tropical plants, so i would imagine that a freeze would likely do some harm. not sure exactly how long it will take to get fruit. a few months at least
 
They produce one pineapple a year. If you're growing from another pineapple top it can be 2-3 years before you get your first.
 
In my climate, it is unlikely we will ever get to the fruiting stage, but it is pretty fun to see a vibrant pineapple plant growing up out of the old top of a store-bought pineapple. Great project for kids (including the 30+ yr old type).
