Planting whole Chiltepin

Question for the seasoned growers. Can you plant a whole Chiltepin? They are Really small and I don’t want to damage the seeds cutting them open.
My dad also said he has planted them whole in the past.

Does anybody know if this is possible? If so, what is best way.

Sure, that's how my volunteer plants come up the next year. But I guess they have time to slowly break down in the soil.

But it is fine to cut them open, you might cut one seed here or there, but shouldn't be a problem. Unless you only have one pod. Then, maybe just tear it open.
