THE GAME:

In its simplest form, Mafia consists of two sides: the Mafia, and the Town. The Mafia's goal is to kill the innocents, while the Town's goal is the kill the Mafia.

At the beginning of the game, the Moderator will secretly send everyone their role via PM. The Mafia will know each other, while (in the basic game) everyone else will only know their own role.

The game has two phases. Usually the first is Night. During Night, the Town can not communicate , but the Mafia can discuss and choose someone to murder via PM. After the Moderator has received the name of the victim via PM, the Moderator reveals the dead player, and Day begins.

During Day, the Town must choose someone to Lynch on open forum; they are trying to eliminate the Mafia, but the Mafia can lead them astray by casting suspicion elsewhere. Generally, players will vote for someone they think is Mafia (the Mafia will vote so that they seem to be doing this as well, and might even vote for each other to confuse the Town); when a player gets a majority of the votes, they are lynched. Their role is revealed by the Moderator, and it is once again Night.


The game alternates between Night and Day cycles until either the Mafia are eliminated, or the Mafia have killed everyone else.

HOT Cop - Each night, the Cop can investigate one player (by sending their name to the Moderator), and finds out whether that player is Mafia or not. The Cop is on the Town's side.

Doctor CHILLI- Each night, the Doctor can choose one player to protect (by sending their name to the Moderator). If the Mafia (or anyone else) tries to kill that player, they will fail. The Doctor is on the Town's side.

Serial POD Killer - The Serial Killer may kill another player each Night (by sending their name to the Moderator). However, the Serial Killer is not on the Town's side or the Mafia's side. The Serial Killer wins when everyone else is dead.

Yeeaah, I will play yous silly game. Jess remember I has "family" in Jersey and we doan take to loozen very goodly.
 
Ive only really been involved with one before with a deck of cards in real life, etc... was told it works well on forums ;)& it seems easy enough!
 
Sounds fun right now as I have the week off, but will be slammed with work the next three months. When does all the PM'ing go down?
 
What type of time restraint are we talking about. You have got my interests perked. Also, what time are we talking about playing, Aussie night of us of the northern side night?
 
Time in the game it dose not really matter.... some days/nights might only be 5 mins, some 24hrs... it depends on when people are logged in to play.
So if you were Mafia and there has been night declared... then night will last as long as it takes for you to send me a PM with your kill.
Day will last as long as every one has voted for the LYNCH.

If all 12 sit here and play straight up it would go for an hour or two.
 
All names & roles will be put into excel – to generate random roles.

This game will have one of the four following set-ups, with an equal (25%) chance of each occurring :
• 3 Mafia Goon, 1 Cop, 1 Doc, 3 Townies
• 3 Mafia Goon, 5 Townies
• 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Cop, 1 Doc, 4 Townies
• 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Cop, 5 Townies

You are a Mafia Goon, and your partner is [XXX] (who is a [Mafia Goon ]. The 3-4 of you, for whatever reason, want to kill everybody else. You may talk together before the game officially starts by private messages, and during each night – you may not, however, talk privately during the day. Each night (which does not include pre-game), you may send me one person which you would like to kill. That player will die unless they are successfully protected by a Doctor..

Serial Pod Killer :


You are a Serial Pod Killer , and your On your own !. For whatever reason, you want to kill everybody else. You may private messages mod , and during each night – you may not, however, talk privately during the day. Each night (which does not include pre-game), you may send me one person which you would like to kill. That player will die unless they are successfully protected by a Doctor...

Every night, you -- and only you -- may Roleblock one player so long as you are alive. If that player has a power role (in this game, either a Cop or Doctor role), their role will be nullified for that night (i.e. a Cop will receive no result for an investigation, and a Doctor will not succeed in protecting for that night only). You may kill and role-block on the same night.

Town Cop :


You are the Cop. Each night, you may investigate one player to determine whether or not they are part of the Mafia. Your results are guaranteed to be either correct, incorrect, guilty or innocent. You may not investigate yourself. You win with the town when all Mafia are dead, and at least one townsperson is still alive.

If you investigate a member of the mafia, your result will be “Mafia.” If you investigate a member of the town, your result will be “Town.” Or the Opposites in the case of a Insane cop – your answer would be
“Town” – for Mafia and
“Mafia” for Town.
COP SENARIOS ; You could be any of the below if you are a cop.
INSANE – always gets incorrect answers
SANE – always get correct answers
PARINOID- always gets guilty answers
NAIVE – always gets innocent answers

You will not know which you are , that is for you to figure out.

Town Commuting Dr CHILLI :


You are the Doctor. Each night, you may protect one player from a mafia kill – if that player is targeted to die on that same night, they will instead live. You will not be told if your protection is successful. You may not protect yourself. You win with the town when all Mafia are dead, and at least one townsperson is still alive.

On ODD or EVEN numbers of the night you will be out on call and immune to MAFIA hits (TBD ill will PM which with role.)

Chillihead Townie :


You are a Townie. You do not have any night abilities, but luckily enough, you do have a say on who is lynched. Use your vote well! You win with the town when all Mafia are dead, and at least one townsperson is still alive.

This sounds like it would be better suited as a social group. Why don't you create one for games, and play mafia and poker in there?
