Poop's DWC n Soil n Thangs

Howdy yall!

This is my first grow. For now I'm growing Bhut Jolokia and Butch T Scorpion peppers. I recieved around 3 pounds of these peppers in January of 2012. It took me a long time to find these peppers because there isn't a market around here for super hots. I know a gal who works at my local courthouse and her boss, which is the head of the drug n alcohol program, gave me the peppers. I took the seeds out of most of the peppers and ate every one of these tasty peppers.

Knowing that I have recieved an addiction to super hots which was supplied by the main drug/alcohol
man,I had to start growing.

This is a month after germ...March 2

This is March 15-at this time I had a recirculating DWC going

This is today April 4th. I have taken away the RDWC because I'm running out of room. Some of these are watered with a SIP method as you can see,and also trying it on a few air pots.

Look at that! Oh yea!!! Now that I have a few pods,I'm thinking that maybe I was wrong about the ID of these plants. Is this trinidad or ghost? I thought trinidad.

Here is the fattest plant with the most peppers starting

There is also 5 younger plants in (SIP) that are growing faster than the rest, but have green aphids reproducing real fast!! Do you think leaving these out in a few light t-storms will help out,or should I try spraying them off? All the soil plants are organic,so I will not use anything to harm the soil.

  1. Here are the young aphid attacked (sip) plants.

Why do these look like ghost pepper?  I thought these were T Scorpion.

This is an air pot (SIP).  This makes me believe that you can grow a very large plant in a small air pot container(like 3g) outside.  Those roots are also growing out of the side holes of the air pot because the pot was setting in perlite and water a few inches.  So you could experiment with putting the air pot a little lower in the water/perlite to allow roots to grow as deep as the perlite container.  Almost a hydro soil mix.

Last summer at the Vermont Brewers Festival, I had an amazing beer. Made with morel mushrooms.

I also had habanero ice cream.

Great grow! Those roots coming out of the airpot are insane.

Wow,morel beer!!!  I've never heard of it,but would kill for some.  What I do know is that that if you like to eat whole pods, then eating them with a coffee or chocolate stout compliment each other real nice.

Was the ice cream any good?

That was a 1 gallon airpot.  the plants in the 1g airpots are growing the fastest and are aphid infested.  If I don't see any lady bugs soon ill have to spray them with dawn.

A lot of pepper action on this plant!!

SIP for 2 1 gallon airpots put together.  There is no bottom on this airpot.  I filled the bucket with perlite and put the conjoined airpots in the bucket, tthen added soil.  Should be very interesting.

This is the plant in the 5g bucket coming from the 1 gallon SIP

This was a few days ago on the beast..around 40 peppers growing on this thing for now.  I really need to stake these before the damn branches fall off.

DWC is not doing so great, but not real bad.  They are still growing with no peppers yet.

The bottom leaves are pretty much falling off after turning yellow with brown spots.  I'm not giving them enough attention-keeping them watered/nutes.  Leaves are curling up and I really can't keep up with them.

Looks good Poop. Have  you considered taking the hydros outside? I took mine out and they are exploding with growth unlike anything they ever did under the lights.

The leaf curl thing is probably a nute thing. Once those are straightened out, you should be fine. 8 DWC plants that large is a challenge to take care of though. That is enough to wear a person out on just those 8 plants. Some time over the spring I converted all mine to drip buckets so I only had one reservoir to deal with. Much easier to keep track of.

The last pic in my glog shows my 10 hydro plants. http://thehotpepper.com/topic/35064-jeffs-glog-2013-first-update-in-a-long-time-everything-is-outside-finally/page-2

Thanks man. I am going to put a few outside. Just have no time till next week. The roots are crazy on those hydro. They take up half the bucket. Cant even find the air stones. Seems like 5 gallons is too small but that's what they are staying in. The only thing I'm feeding them with is botanic pro grow and bloom.

I'm about done with this glog because photobucket is not working right
