disease possible fungal problem?

Walking the property yesterday We found this growth which looks kind of spiky around the edges of some perennial grasses and weeds but it is spreading onto our coleus and in the fresh mulch. First question obviously. What is it? Second is it going to harm my plants? And third. Would a simple copper spray work?

That's a new one on me, PSF.
Have you searched images, yet?
we've never seen it before either. Google image search was not coming up with much keeps pointing me towards powdery mildew and I know what that looks like. This is not that. Forsake of experiment I'm going to spray with liquid copper and see how it goes.

Those stalks sure remind me of slime mold gone to fruit.. Not that I've ever seen it that color.
Edit: Flipping thru some images on google, I'm pretty sure it's slime mold you have. Someone had one of some on Strawberry that looked really similar. Wonder if it's attacking the plants or something that is attacking them. I usually find them eating fungi, and mostly just the yellow slimes.
