1/23/12 After 3 days of neglect while I was out of town. Tray sat on a table near south facing window. Not what they needed but it kept them alive. I used my 15 minutes of free time for the week and hung a light for them.

you are stackin the pods up big time. Lovin all the new pics. Your Primo plant has to be the coolest one ive seen that thing is awesome.

Your plants look great from top to bottom... You've got this "update" thing down pat!

That Bhut looks nasty, similar look to the Indian Carbons that I'm growing, I'm just waiting for them to start popping.

Buddy's right on, this weather in upper Illinois has been brutal, very rough on my flower beds. But later summer when our evenings start to cool all the plants will start to perk up. Ha......I actually cut back alot of perennials knowing they'll bounce back with new growth in August.

Great update, and responses.......once again

Looking good. My Morougas are tiny yet, but everything else is just waiting for color. I need to post pics of the gnarly perfect phenotype Yellow 7's I have going. Will be sending you some.

Greg, I think those are Indian Carbons. I am having issues with some of my varieties. 2 of my "Nots" seem to be a standard Bhut, and the other an Indian Carbon. Both are similar in shape, but the I.C. has a nasty dragon like skin on them. Those will not get the "bhut"... I am loving the taste of them. We are getting sporadic downpours the last two days. I welcome any rain but I forgot to shelter my potted plants. I usually put them under an eave and it helps keep them from getting swamped. This year I have had more success with the potted plants compared to last years fail. I still notice that my ground plants stay more "squat" and produce more. My containers are taller with less yield. A couple more adjustments next year and they should be on par with the grounders.

@JAG I agree you should be updating more. Thanks for dropping in!

Couple pod shots from last night...
I let this Doogie over ripen as suggested. I reneg on my "rubbish" statement. Very fresh flavor.

Butch T... I did not think this was nearly as hot as the Douglah. I know there are many variables though.

amazing pods P-Son....I think your season might just be Prodigal after all. Those pods look like the devil grew them himself. I would myself use utmost caution with them....lol. YIKES.

I love the look of your Butch T, I've heard just too many people say they taste like shiz, so I kept them out of my 2012 Grow.

The Yellow 7 is gorgeous, I don't have any of those either but with how beautiful they are coupled with your description of how great they taste, I will have to add them to my 2013 grow!

Keep up the good fight P-Son!

Wow...that Congo looks like an apple! That is a whole lotta pod! How's the taste on those? I love the Yellow 7's and Yellow Scorps as well. Sweet hot that doesn't put you on the floor. You are setting the pod pic bar pretty damn high with these pics sir! Nice job!

@3/5.... Thank you for the compliments. I am cautious with these. You will never see me eating a whole pod. Even with gloves and caution I always end up burning. I never notice until I get in the shower, and then the mistakes come out. That shower water has a way of reminding you..."yes dummy, you rubbed your forehead."

@Cay..... That Douglah was hot as hell. I don't get caught up in the numbers or politics, but those things have to be consistantly up there in SHU's.

@Shane..... I always liked the pics cmpman has on his glog with the inner pod shots. Legendary stuff. This is just a po'mans attempt. I will have the camera I want soon, and will be able to take the shots that I want.

Speaking of Chris.... Giant twisted chocolate hab cmpman1974. They are giant!

This was a different looking Yellow 7 compared to my others. I like this shape too.

Aji Chuncho... Pulpiteer I forgot to answer your question about these. It is a frutescen and I am liking them. Quick heat coming and going.

This was my Boonie plant that I stripped down to a sick. It is rocking, and more importantly putting out proper pods. My other two plants grew some sort of cross and I was sweating this one. The interesting part is that I took all the seeds out of the same pod last year. Hmmmm
2012-07-19_20-35-47_439.jpg

This is one of the "not" Boonies from the same pod. Bigger, and more wrinkled pods. They get mushy on the plant if left on a minute too long. Similar to a boonie in that aspect. Incredible leaves on this thing.

Wow, that Giant twisted chocolate hab is huge indeed. Did it taste different then a regular choc hab? Beautiful pods and plants, PS. The shape of the Butch T perfect!

I love that you have so many pods ripe! Good pics man. Keep it up! I imagine you will just be harvesting from here on out. What are you going to do with the excess pods? Sauce, powder?

Giant Twisted Hab, Wow...nuff said!

Side note, I talked my daughter into taking photography this coming school year. Time to go camera shopping! Are you lighting with flash or an external light source for those pod shots?

I may try my hand at a sauce or two,but mostly powder. The dehydrator has been running around the clock. I need to buy a smoker this weekend or next and start learning how to smoke them. Good to see you again bro.

First off the 7 congo flavor was ok. Nothing special to me. As far as the camera work... I use just an 8MP cell phone. At one time it worked pretty damn good IMO, but since the update for my phone it has been a struggle. There is a lot of fist and teeth clenching involved. I'm surprised I haven't been institutionalized yet. There are times when I actually take video with it,and extract "stills" to get a decent picture. Whatever it takes to get it as lifelike in color and texture as possible. I've always been picky about sports, work, anything really. So it really wears on me not getting things to line up how I want. By seed starting time,I hope to have a nice digital, and eventually take some classes at a local community college.

For smoking them, I would try cold smoking. It would be much cheaper than buying a smoker (unless you have a need for one). And with cold smoking you're not cooking the pepper while smoking it like a traditional smoker would. I recently smoked some Datils in my traditional smoker with cherry wood while I was smoking a pork shoulder. I smoked them for about two hours and then put them in the dehydrator for about five hours, then turned them in to powder. They came out really good. But, I think if you're wanting to smoke a large amount of peppers, or smoke more often, then cold smoking is the way to go. A traditional smoker just takes too long to prepare. You can make a cold smoker with a soldering iron and a tin can. Google it!

Your attention to detail on your pictures shows. Man it looks like you sprayed those cuts pods with water on the insides before you took those shots. That's a ridiculous amount of oil!

Aji Chuncho a frutescen... same species as a tabasco, correct? Small with quick heat, I wonder how they compare. I'm growing my first tabascos this year. They're not ripe yet, but are throwing out a lot of pods.

Anyway, your grow is looking awesome!

wow some real nice looking pods and plant you got there bro. lovin them choc habs i wish mine had sprouted but ill try next year . rideon man loveing your glog some good encouragement for the newbe chili head like myself lol

Thanks for the bump sir. Hard to come by at 5 am. Why not sprout some now sali? You have the weather to grow year round.

Bhut Indian Carbon.. Pulled around 75 pods off this plant already

Wow J,
That Carbon is really pumping out the pods! I had one like that last yr. I decided to OW it and its lagging behind this season because of the high temp lack of rain and continual flower drop. The weather has made the turn for the good. I'm starting to see some branch extension with the "Naga's". Pretty normal this time and later in the season. I'm glad to see the flowers returning on my superhots.

Man, I can't believe the progress on your plants from 2 months ago......magic wond or dust? What are you doing to get those kick-arse plants...........lol

You've got to get some of those Carbons in the dehydrator...
Grind'em and dust some Gulf Shrimp with it...........yum
