Hey I am 32 years old and I have been eating chili for about 13-14 years. In that period of time I have had stomach pains pretty much daily. Without any exaggerating, around 40-50 times it has been to a point where I've passed out from the pain. At one point I even ended up in a hospital because I passed out in the middle of the street and smacked my head into the curb. Every single time it has reached a point where I have passed out, I have stopped eating chili for a while. But I am such an idiot that I get temped after a while and then eat it again. It is usually 7-8 hours after I eat it the pain comes. It is absolutely the worst pain I have experienced in my life and it lasts for about 30 minutes (with me having diarrhea). When it is all out, the pain is completely gone and I feel just fine. I know it sounds like insanity to keep eating it, and the past 2 years or so I've cut back because the pain has just become too much. I can't do it anymore. My problem is that food taste so bland to me without chili on, which I am sure you people here can relate to. So after a break, where I am bored with the food, I end up "testing" my stomach again and then pay the price for it.
Do any of you have any idea why I might be reacting this way? And is there any way to prevent it? If not, do think there's a type of chili that might not cause it. I really have no idea where else to look.
