Pruned/cutted a few split sections

Hi.

I have two bhut jolokia plants inside a 60x60x160 indoor tent and yesterday I decided to cut quite a few leaves and branches (halves of y split sections) to let the light (250W HPS) reach the middle of the plants. One of the plants was shorter than the other and was not getting as much light as well.

I'm worried if I've cut too much and/or the wrong branches.
I've also thought in topping at least one of the plants but the lower section doesn't have any leaves to keep photosynthesis.

Is it fine to cut these Y split sections in half?

Suggestions are very welcome!

Are you asking if it is okay to cut off one of the branches above the split, leaving one branch instead of two? If so, then yes it is fine to do that. There is a guy on you tube that "tops"/prunes all of his plants this way. He removes all of the branches that are growing inward, toward the center of the plant, and leaves the ones that grow outward. The theory is that it thins the plant and allows light to reach the inner growth of the plant. Works well for him, but I am not convinced that it increases yield. JMO. Hope this answers your question.
