misc Purple UFO flower/pepper variation

So this is my first year growing, and I was just curious if flower color and pepper color variation is normal? I have two purple ufo plants growing (I planted 6 but gave the rest away.) One in Hydroponics and one was in Coco inside and was recently planted outside. My brother has one as well that I gave him that was in the same coco set up until he planted it out around a week or two ago. The one that I have outside has almost completely purple flowers, and the peppers quickly change to purple as they grow larger with just a hint of green remaining at the top as they grow. The plant that I have in Hydro as well as the one my brother is growing have white flowers with a purple rim, and my peppers are still green on the hydro plant with no hint of purple. All three plants were from the same batch of seeds (I ordered) and have been fed the same nutrients until about 2 weeks ago when the one went outside. It had begun flowering the solid purple flowers while still inside on the same nutrients. 
 
I'm not really concerned about anything, just more curious what could cause this and maybe some of the science behind why they may be different.

Having never grown it, I can't offer any advice.  Sounds fun though.  I'd save seed from the different plants, noting the differences.  I'm sure you could use that seed in trades here.  Especially if the seed is isolated.

I grew the Purple UFO in 2016. Mine had dark purple fruit, and the color would bleed into the calyx. I remember them staying dark purple for a good while before finally transitioning to red.

Purpling may be slow to show if using indoor lighting, vs Sun and UV.

I'm curious what they'll look like in a couple months.

Heres the one thats now outside. The flowers were this purple inside, and the largest pepper on the bottom showed up when it was still inside and was immediately a dark purple

Here are the peppers on the hydro one, it is now under the same light that the other one was grown under until it moved outside, and all flowering and fruiting has happened under this light.

Figured I'd update after a week of solid growth, The peppers outside are almost all completely purple now, and the ones inside, while getting decently sized, still have no purple to speak of... Will be really interesting to see how they progress.

What a difference a day makes... Checked this morning and most of the peppers on the hydro plant have begun purpling, starting on the side getting the most light, and most prominent on the peppers that are exposed to more light. 
 
This got me to thinking. As purple coloring is possible on non-purple peppers and is usually attributable to a "sun tan," does this mean that variants like the purple UFO are just peppers bred to be overly susceptible to this "sun tan" phenomenon? I think I'm going to try to isolate a pepper early in its life with something that doesn't allow light in to see if it will become purple in the absence of light. I'm not really sure what I could use but I'm sure I could figure something out.
