Question about one of my non-producing, plants

have a plant going on 2 yrs now and it hasn't produced a solitary pod. Give it the best dirt money can buy ;) and the best air and sunshine The Old Dominion has to offer and nothing. Just pruned it down for another over winter (can upload pic tomorrow) Cut it down to around 6" (It was 3 ft tall) and potted it up in some fresh nutrient-rich topsoil like I always do. Its had a gnat or two accost it, in its 2 yr lifespan, but nothing serious, health wise. Supposed to be a Dorset too. I do have a Dorset that has given me a dozen pods so I'm wondering, should I go to all the time/effort to over-winter it again?

My question is, is this plant going to win the battle and not give me a pod next season as well? Are plants known to have offspring that simply won't reproduce even though they are relatively healthy?

i have a kitchen pepper that just won't set pods, and i have almost 100 plants. for whatever reason it won't set pods. i misted tonight with fertilizer but can't guarantee that will do anything.

who knows, do what i do, plant several plants and hope for the best. did that with choc bhut and got 1 pod!

good luck

thanks. I pruned it down to over-winter (see pic above) but may have to toss it anyway if I have other plants that need space under the light.

Too much luxury, it got lazy and didn't want to work for a living.  Repot it in a larger pot with really crappy soil, never give it a hair cut, and tell it that it's worthless and you'll have a rock star next year.

No need to toss it if there's not enough light, just let it go dormant.

don't toss it.  What would that thing cost to ship to 43783 as bareroot?  I'd save it for Bonchi if I've got the extra funds to ship it

I'd snip the two verticals and let it rock

I don't mean to laugh but I found this post hilarious, the "Oh yea lots of flowers" post picture of a baron plant   Anyway I have had a very stubborn Scorpion plant that took 2 seasons to produce pods, I didn't give up on it & was rewarded with a very big haul. I got the seeds from Potowie (I think that's how he spelled it) so I knew the stock was good

there is a strain of wiri wiri, that no matter what you do will grow to 4inches and die. 2 years of trying and the same results(any one that got seed from member GreenTea be informed).

is that Pot-guy still around?  just kidding. i have lots of plants that don't produce in the first year. potawie's done some pretty incredible things since looking into hot peppers, to the point of trying to stabilize his own unique variety (of course you growers in ontario have the zone 5 & 6 summer that allow your plants to take off). plus he won a slap down or show down, toss done, whatever the hell they call that thing where they make food and present it. think he used beaver, wolverine and badger to make his sausage - way over the top. may even have tossed in bobwhite quail meat - don't remember - but he won!.

back to dotcom, just remisted my kitchen pepper and still no sign of pod set, so perhaps next year, if it survives overwintering i will get some pods.
