overwintering Ramping up indoor grow for the winter.

I've started fine tuning my indoor grow setup:

4'x4'x6.5' grow tent
240W LED flowering model w/ 3w chipsets X2 (#2 is in the mail)
90W LED Vegetative model w/ 1w chipsets
85w CFL's for supplemental lighting.
Circulating fan
Temperature control exhaust fan


(The hazelnut shell ground cover is purely aesthetic as are the paper hearts my GF made)

I've been sold on the Air-Pots and the clever way they develop healthy non circulating root systems so I'll be using them for all my plants (unless they all die then I'll be super pissed).

Any suggestions for enhancing modifying and generally making this a more awesome and productive endeavor is welcome.

P.S. without blowing up my electricity bill and installing high airflow cooling systems that is
 
I found that good healthy plants need more than just red and blue light. other than that, looks like a mighty good setup. might be a bit overkill with the little seedlings, but all is good.

The fixtures have a few extra bands.

Red: 630, 660nm
Blue: 425nm
Infrared: 730nm
Ultraviolet: 380nm
White: 12000k

Though the vast majority is red and blue. But I agree, I am considering putting in a CFL fixture to supplement.

Maybe three large plants. Im going to use medium size Air-pots without re-potting so hopefully the plants keep to a modest size and I can keep a variety of plants in the small space.
 
Upgrades:

New 100W fixture for supplemental CFL fixture and the 2nd 240W LED came in.

Any advice on pruning the Bhut Jolokia? I need to bring it down to size for the tent or sell it. I have another huge one that has its own light in the living room :lol:
I have a bunch of seeds to start for the winter as well :) Cant wait until this looks more green and red :)
 
LOL. I just planted some Brain Strains and some Jolokia seeds and I rubbed nose and now it burns. :drunk: What should I plant next?

Oh that's nothing! try inhaling (by mistake!) Bhut Jolokia powder, or having Trinidad Scorpion right in your eye... :lol:

mmm... I'd plant some Pimenta de Neyde. I truly love this one.

As for the light, I think you should get the fixture closer to the plant.
 
Doing a small Sun Blaze T5 HO fixture vs. 240 watt mid range flowering LED fixture.

It's not really a fair test (I think) since the LED is putting 12,000 lumens in half the area that the T5 is putting its initial rated 10,000 lumens

The T5 fixture is using 2 4' 55 watt HO 6500k fluorescent bulbs.

I just placed these two Butch-T starts under each. Both were planted at the same time and growing at about the same rate and are the same size as of now in the same pot with the same soil.

Guess witch one is under the LED. ;)

If the VEG growth of the T5 starts kicking the butt of the LED I'll get another T5 fixture to keep the grow going once they get to big for the 2 bulb fixture. If that happened I would use the LED's strictly for flowering.
