Rancor's 2013 Grow, complete with superhot shrubs

Alright, after much negligence and procrastination, I've finally managed to get around to pulling the pictures off of my phone and start this here grow log. I'm Rancor. I live in Tennessee. I like good whiskey and hot peppers. Now that we've been introduced, I'll give you a bit of background. I started this whole pepper growing endeavor in good ol' 2011. Modest first year. Did some research and did better the next year. End of 2012, hopped up on craft beer, caffeine, and PepperGuru's over-wintering guide, I decided to chop down my favorite plants and let them continue life.

Fast forward to March 2013. After a miserable winter in a 4x3x5 grow tent with two 105w (real wattage, they're physically huge), and a 45w and 65w, all CFLs, here they stand. I can't really remember which is which, but there's two Trinidad Scorpions, a Fatalii, Jumbo Jalapeno in the back, and in the front, a Jamaican Hot Chocolate which I have since gifted to a friend. Smartpots of varying size, home made soil.

Trinidad Scorpion #1, which was, oddly enough, the smaller of the two last year. Sprouted in Jan. 2012

April 2013

Fatalii. This one I got from Lowe's during the hot season in 2012. It was labeled as an Orange Habanero. I did some digging online and apparently it was a fairly common problem among Lowe's in the Southeast at the time. I don't mind. It's mega tasty.

Jamaican Hot Chocolate, now in a new home.

The gang. Jamaican's in the 30 gallon. I've since re-amended the soil and am waiting to transplant Scorpion #1 into it. 10s on the other big 'nes.

Jumbo Jalapeno from Lowe's, purchased in 2012. This is right at sunrise.

Great looking OW's! What's your soil composed of?
I had a bit of used soil left from last year that I amended with plenty of composted cow manure (Black Kow, 5 dollars for 50 pounds), various bone and blood meals, added Peat Moss, and Mushroom Compost. I would love to get my hands on some Earthworm Castings, but the nearest Hydro store is 50 miles away, so the Black Kow and Mushroom compost just has to do. My plants haven't complained yet.

Also, I'm having some trouble with the forum spazzing out when I try to post. It keeps saying I'm posting too many pictures, even when it's just like 7 or 8. I still have plenty more to come before I'm caught up to present.

Is that a large egg cluster on the underside of one of the leaves of your Hot Cayenne? If so, do you know what kind of eggs they are?

I picked those off long ago, but never noticed them in the pics. Some sort of mites, I believe.

Thank you for your kind words. Very much appreciated. That Fatalii has done gone and ripened fully on me. Didn't even notice it change colors, and then BAM! Yellow as a canary. I always underestimate these jalapenos. I'll see a ripe one and rip it off the plant and take a big ol' bite. They're sneaky.

Culleoka, which is out in the sticks, closest to Columbia, or, Mule Town, if you will. Smyrna is over 2 hours from here. I remember the floods. I was in Nashville at the time when it happened for school. It was ridiculous.

Scorpion #2. The sprout in the cup isn't actually a Cali. Wonder, but a Zimbabwe Bird Pepper (I hope).

This Fatalii looked a little sad when I first put it out, but once it got into some of that good soil and some good tea, it took off.

Still having problems getting pics off of my phone. Had to resort to the lowly digital camera, which is now vastly inferior to my super-phone's camera. I love the future. Anyway, not much to report. I've decided to let everything flower it's heart out now. I want peppers. I apologize for less than optimal photography.

And just for fun, a pic of my 'mater plant. Park's Whopper, vegged into a bush and screen'd.
