My main rule w/ regards to outdoor plants don't add fertilizer unless you do a soil test to know what is going on, specifically, you are dealing with. It's VERY easy to really mess things up if you are flying blind. I mean, it's one thing to give it a gentle dose of macronutrients if you see issues with plants losing some green when they are setting pods, you know they are struggling. Or a bit of a calcium dressing if you get blossom end rot on pods. But micronutrients, you really need to do a soil test and address those in-between seasons. It's very, very easy to screw up plants, and even cause total nutrient lockout, if you overdo things.
