Red Savina Leaf Holes Today

I have noticed over the last couple of days, one of my Red Savina plants has started developing holes in the leaves...there doesn't seem to be any "bugs" present and it is only this leaf so far....first pic is the plant and it looks healthy to me....you can see holes in the leaf just left of dead center...second picture is a close up of the holes and it seems they are again following the leaf structure like the Marbles leaf did...(by the way, the marbles have cleared up with use of regular water, thanks for the tip)...anyway, when you look close the leaf is "cleaving" along the main vein in the leaf....has anyone seen leaf damage like this and if so, any idea what is causing it?

I'm no expert but to me it looks like to much juice. The plant looks really green and is only under artificial light maybe slow down the vitamins until they see the sunshine. Other than that my savinas leaves have curled up like your lower leaves, I think this plant is just starving for real sun. I wouldn't worry yourself to much over this it seems to be only the one leaf.:rolleyes:
 
Too clean to be a bacteria, and the leaf looks pretty healthy.
Even though you don't think it is, I still believe something munched on it.
 
It almost looks like a burn hole. I don't know but you think it could be to much nitrogen I don't know never seen anything like that.
 
I might be wrong, but if it was indeed a kind of "burn". wouldn't we have seen any signs other than the holes?
I mean a change of color, or something?

Hope it's no bacteria.

I have really slowed down on the "grow juice" and started to use plain ol' tap water...should I remove the damaged leaf?

You know Omri, that is what I thought too, if it had lunch it used the plant as a drive in or got a to go order...cause it ain't in the box...I have searched leaf by leaf every plant in the grow box...wouldn't think it would be a roach...never seen one in our house or garage or even in our yard...(yes, strong chemicals are used around the outside foundation of my house)
 
too much fertilize is what I am hoping it is.....no roots coming out of the bottom of the pot yet but they should be any day...almost time to transplant to 5 gallon pots for these...OK...I have enough room under lights for nine 5 gallon containers...time to think what arrangements need to be made...hope I don't have to build another 4' X 4' grow box...if it's bacteria, I am hosed...

He would have seen them if they were slugs, no?

You can actually see pulled fibers, so something did tear it apart.
 
have you grown savinas before cuz i just went and checked my cr habs (which, granted also aren't as big) and they're veins aren't that dark color, they're light green. is that typical for savinas?
i've burnt part of a leaf before just leaving a drop of fertilizer on the leaf, but that didn't quite look like this so thats my logic that its coming from the inside. of course that also might be logic that says its not the fertilizer... still my vote tho...

well i'm just guessing, could very well be a critter. and i also hope its not diseased...

The plant is looking very healthy actually.
I'm no expert and just sharing my little knowledge, but the leaves aren't too dark, aren't too bright and the veins are darker in higher leaves.
 
I just looked again closely at all the leaves on the plant, there is some mechanical damage to one of the lower leaves that I did by pinching it between two pots and there is one brown spot on the leaf that is next to it on the left....

It looks like chew bites on the edges I be out there looking maybe for a fat critter but its just hard to say I still think it may be the fertilizer
 
You plant is very much alive and like you said you laid off the ferts a while back and this is just the damage from that time. Nothing against the experts here but it still looks to me like the plant grew to fast with to much nitrogen. All will be fine, wish I had plants that looked that healthy.

It does look like a similar shape to the holes.
I don't think it's a bacteria, but isolate it.
