Red Savina Leaf Holes Today

The plant is looking very healthy actually.
I'm no expert and just sharing my little knowledge, but the leaves aren't too dark, aren't too bright and the veins are darker in higher leaves.

well you make a convincing argument... and i can reason that maybe the colour is from that purpley 'sunscreen' type substance we were talking about earlier in AJ's thread... i'm wavering...

I just looked again closely at all the leaves on the plant, there is some mechanical damage to one of the lower leaves that I did by pinching it between two pots and there is one brown spot on the leaf that is next to it on the left....

thats actually what it looked like when i left the drop of fertilizer on the leaf, so thats probably all that one is. see, the proximity to the veins makes me want to still say its fertilizer but i personally have never seen a plant burnt from the inside so i don't know what that really looks like and it's not like its on the lowest level of leaves...
y'know i figure its so likely its one of the two that you might as well just treat for both and if it stops then its okay to not knowing which...
and on that note i'm gonna stop guessing now ;)

put the macro lens on and took a real close up...I see what Omri is saying about the pulled fibers and can also see the "chewed" appearance, but if it was a pest, wouldn't the edges be more clean cut?

Damn, I need a new camera...
Anyways, my suggestion is to isolate and wait.
If it's a bacteria, you'll see more of those holes. if it's a bug, it won't happen again, and if it's just some fertilizer drops, you'll see the end of it.

Omri, you won't believe this but if I need to look at something real close, I will take a shot of it with the macro then use the picture editor to crop it and blow it up even more...no telling how much magnification there is there......remember the thread I started about a new camera and megapixels?....well, there you are.....

I am just going to watch the plants (duh) and see what happens...

weren't you spraying with neem? what leaf munchers does neem not work on, maybe you can narrow it down and lay some traps to see if you catch anything, and in the meantime give'r a little dunk in the sink and let it dry out after that.

I sprayed with neem one time back about 3 weeks ago but now that you say it, are slugs repelled by neem?

Slugs aren't usually a problem indoors, especially if your lights are on 24 hrs and its dry but you never know

i beleive slugs are attracted to beer. easy way to test the slug theory.
The problem is that humans are also attracted to beer, and from what I remember they are faster than slugs.

yup, you remember I run my lights 24/7...hmmmmmmm, we will wait and see what it is....may be nothing more than a nervous father...

GB, That would be alcohol abuse...I'm not giving any of my shiner away...lol

Omri is right again about the humans....

pfft, slugs probably wouldn't want your crappy american beer anyways. its like one step above cough syrup.
Hmm... same with Israeli beer. we need something dutch or maybe Guinness! ;)

look up shiner bock on the net and read about it...czeck and german to the core since 1909...Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas....population 2070.

I have been drinking beer for 45 years and this is absolutely the best tasting beer I have ever has that is within the budget...its like nectar of the gods.........
