REDTAIL's 2015

After a miserable growing season last year, we're hoping 2015 is another great season for Red Hawk Premium Peppers!!! I didn't do much of a grow log last year, so I'll try to make up for it this year.

Habaneros from the Galapagos Island and a couple other oddball varieties!

Lookin good Dan, get em out there!

Of course you also reminded me that I neglected to start any choco bhuts this year. The Douglah x Choc Bhuts (d'bhuts!) better carry their load instead!

I need to be doing that tomorrow as well! Plants are looking great!!!
This is about the warmest it has been around here lately (snow flurries last than three weeks ago). This is about the only weekend we don't have a festival throughout all of May.

Wow, that sounds deadly man! Let me know if you have any d'bhut seeds laying around. I'd love to try them!!!

HOORAY!!! I got a whole 80 plants in the ground. . . . . . . . .  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Two festivals this weekend so won't be getting anymore until next week.

***MAY 26th UPDATE - - - F**K YOU FROST!!!!!!!!!***

We had an unexpected frost over the weekend while we were away at the Kempton Pepper Festival. All my plants were damaged to some degree but most should survive. I'm expecting to lose most of my habaneros, bhuts and 7 Pots.

Oh that sucks bro ... Are frosts at this time of year for you a once in a lifetime freak occurrence? Or are rogue ones this close to summer an occasional thing? Hope everything bounces back quickly bro.

A frost?!  Oh no... sorry to hear that Dan...  you going to order some live plants as replacements?

Really hate that for you Dan I cannot believe a frost this late did that to your grow.  You need to develop a sauce with Chocolate Brain Strain and we can hook up like old days brother.  Isn't  it supposed to be really hot up in the northeast corridor this week, sitting in the A/C too hot to go outside right now.  WTF?!?

So sorry to see your misfortune ... really hope the stronger ones survive .. frost in May is that unusual for your location

The last several years, our last frost date would be the beginning of May. However, it is always a risk in the mountains.

Well, we have been tempting fate these last couple of years. I never would have guessed it would have dipped down to almost 35F at the end of May. Fingers crossed.

I may order a couple back up's from Cross Country Nursery just to fill out some rows. Luckily, the Good Lord decided to take pity on the majority of my rarer varieties. Still some damage but likely not fatal.

Yeah Cap, depending on how things end up with my 7's I may be calling upon your help at the end of the season. Thanks for always being there bro!
I will say one thing about this frost. I have never seen a frost occurrence like this be so patchy in such a relatively small area. Our northern bed was nearly untouched while the southern one was nearly completely decimated. I'm guessing microclimates due to slight elevation changes and wind currents? Who the f*** knows!!?!?!?!   :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

What doesn't kill them makes them stronger. May you be blessed with an abudance of pods.

Yes, that's what I'm hoping for. I had remembered several years ago (2013 I think) that SpicyChicken had a similar thing happen and then ended up with a bumper crop!

Many, many years ago (2012 I think) my plants looked just like that this time of year due to storms (hail, rain, and wind) and I had a great year. I am sure you will too. Like MW said, what doesn't kill them makes them stronger.
