Thanks Cappy!! I Just Recieved my Bottles of Brain Strain sauce!!!
So lets give it a taste
Be back in a few mins with results.....
The color is a beautiful red, almost perfect, very nice color
Ok lets take at look at the aroma, on initial smelling you can definatley tell that this is made with a mash, no hint of any extract just smells like peppers and vinegar.
The consistancy is great. I like a medium to medium thick sauce and this delivers on that.
Now for the big one, How does it taste? It tastes very good, I think Cappy got exactley what he was shooting for, a good straight up Hot Pepper Sauce, no fancy flavors or anything masking the taste, It taste almost like fresh pods, there a slight hint of garlic, but for the most all I taste is the chiles which is awesome, it does have a good bit of vinegar in it and salt as well, but thats normal for a mash. I really enjoyed this Im gonna be putting this stuff on a lot a different things, its definatley all purpose, anything you can think hot sauce would work on, this stuff will do the trick.
I know what you guys are thinking, well how hot is it? sorry folks your gonna have to wait about 20mins cause I gotta run out the door cause I gotta go pick my truck up.
so I'll leave you all in suspense till I get back
Ok I'm Back
On to the HEAT!
Its definatley Hot theres no doubt about that, I know some people were a little concerned about the extract, well I cant taste it and my stomach is fine, it has a real nice burn.
Since I ate it off of a spoon, most of the burn was on the tongue and lips. It takes a minute for the real burn to set in, its a slow building burn you taste all the chile flavor, while your enjoying the great chile taste the heat is building , you start feeling your chest get warm then the stomach starts to warm up then a little sweat on the forehead, but I can taste fresh chiles the whole time!
Im having a hard time deciding what to compare it too heat wise, its not crazy hot like alot of other extract sauces, but its alot hotter then most average sauces, this sauce is definatley made to be eaten, and not to be used to strip the paint off your car like alot of the other ones with extract. Im gonna take another little taste here and try and decide on a comparison...
Ok just ate some more, its really tasty
Ok I guess I say heat level is around Defcon 1, that being said, The Brain Strain sauce would taste awesome on some wings right about now.
Summary
Appearance 5/5 I love the color and consistency of this sauce
Label and Packaging 4.5/5 The label itself is a 5/5 but I had to take off .5 for the clear shrink bands, these bottles would be perfect with black shrink bands to cover up the gap between the sauce line and the cap.
Taste 4/5 This is a really tasty sauce I would use it on anything, you can definatley can taste the peppers and thats what I really enjoy
Heat 7/10 others will probably think its hotter, and non-chileheads will definatley get lit up good by this one.
Overall This is a great sauce and I recommend everyone giving it a shot, Thanks Cappy!!
