Ripening

Here is a pic of the Cayennes I have picked over the last 2 weeks.

Awesome man, I cant wait til my Long Thick Cayenne get ripe...I have about a dozen on one plant and 4 of the bunch are turning red...;-)

Yea I got some Joes Long Cayennes growing to. Them things are going to be huge. I also cant wait for those.

I've got a couple of cayenne plants growing right now. They remained green for quite awhile, but they've started to turn. I've been picking a few here and there and using them in some of the Indian dishes we cook. I've got one big one that I want to overwinter for increased production next year. I'm going to do the same thing with a couple of the serrano plants that I have as well.

This is one of my cayenne plants. It's in an old costco laundry soap bucket with drain holes drilled throughout it. They took quite a while to ripen, but when they started I've been picking a few off of them each day. They are fantastic to cook with instead of the dried versions I used to use all the time.

Wow thats a really nice plant. Yea I think mine need more nitrogen to build up more branches and over all growth. They aren't very big but they did produce a bit. Next year should be better.

It's got enough pods on it that I've had to put in some bamboo sticks for support. I realized that I need to hit them with the fan more often so that they grow a nice thick stock. The branches may still need support, but that should really be the only part.

Seems like once they started to ripen, it had only taken about a week for them to complete. Mind you that's just what it seemed like. I didn't actually make a note of when the first pod started to turn to when it finished.

I give my plants a regular feeding of 15-15-30 when they get big enough to start setting fruit.

Well another week has gone buy so I thought I would post some updated pics. Please forgive me for the blurry pics. I took these on my way out the door to work and the dang camera wouldn't auto focus on where it needed to but hopefully you will still be able to see the progress.

So to start it all off here is a picture of one of my Black Pearls.

Now here is one of a few shots of my Jalapeno plants. Now I have 7 of them and these are pics of the top 3 as far as pods go but the others aren't far behind so i think I will have quite a turn out of these this year.

Now this is a pic of one of the three Peter Pepper plants I have. As you can see they don't look like......well you know, like they should. So if any of you have seed from good plants please PM me, I would be interested in some. But still these will be put to use and not go to waist.

And for the finale this is one of the three Joe's Long Cayenne plants I have. Seems to be doing quite well I think. The other two aren't to shabby either.

Well when I first did a search on google before I knew what a peter pepper was. It showed some images that were far more......anatomically correct shall we say :D Its not that im some sick..ok so i am a lil sick but it just makes plain since that if you have such a plant it should look the way its expected to look. Thats just my two cents. Not to mention that it would surely draw attention.lol

Nice. Looking for seed. Particularly from a Peter. Perhaps you should take out a personals ad?. I'm just kidding around here. How could you not with the Peter Pepper.

I haven't grown any, but I have received some seeds via trade and am hoping to plant them this winter. I wouldn't expect them all to look like the Peters you've seen on-line ;) and I'm sure you've looked at many (man that's hilarious!) Each and every Peter is different. I'm hoping that they look like what the name suggests because I want to grow a few and give them to an uptight friend just to see the expression on his face when he realizes what I gave him.

Either way your plants are looking good.
