In this episode...

2013 is here, and a new season is upon us.

This season I got a good head start on the summer outdoor season. I've started a few new strains for 2013 as well as carrying over a few from 2012.

Currently the kids are residing in my closet, within a makeshift grow room.
All are in Airpots varying in size from 1/2 liter for the new sprouts, to 1.5 gallon for the 2012 survivors.
Lighting is a dual bulb t8 fixture running 6500k lamps.
My growing medium is Promix Bx.

All peppers will receive nutrients via General Hydroponics General Organics series.

I used these nutes in 2012 with great results, so I'm sticking with what has worked for me...


Having recently moved, my summer growing space has been reduced by half compared to what I had in 2012.
None the less, I'm planning on moving all peppers outside once summer rolls around so they can enjoy the wonderful Colorado sun..
At this point, the plan is to move them into root pruning pouches approximately 5-7 gallons in size.
We'll see how that all goes...
2012 was a great learning experience, can't wait to see what 2013 throws at me...

Didja use that douglah yet? How'd it taste?

No, I haven't used it yet.. I'm drying it out for use later. I prefer the Douglahs with wild game meat(elk, venison).

Also curious
Have you smoked any 7 pot browns yet? Or do you smoke them?

I don't smoke any peppers. I do dry them for use in powders.

Welcome to another episode of RoninGarden,

Life has been pretty crazy lately...
I had to shut down and cull my hydro Primo. Not what I wanted to do but it was a necessary evil.
There is always the upside, I'll be moving at the end of the month and will have a large fenced in garden at the new place.
For the first time in Colorado I'll have the chance to plant my peppers inground.
Super stoked!

Last night was my largest one time harvest so far this season.

It was great to get such a selection.
Up until now it's just been one or two at a time...

The last of my Hp22b's came off yesterday.

My plant is now naked... Poor thing.. It does have flowers forming so it shouldn't be long til I get some more pods...
Can't wait to see how this one does once it's in the ground..

I love this pepper, Hot as hell, and pimply and Mean looking!
They're also the largest pods in my garden.

It's yellow... but looking more like a scorp.. Either way I'm hyped that this guy finally podded up!

Looks awesome man! That BB yellow looks almost as evil as your Reapers. The Yellow Bhut is hard to tell if its true with that deformed pod. Looks cool though. Can't wait to see how you do growing in the ground. I'm sure you'll have some monsters! Good luck!

The billy boys are lookin really brainy. Jury still out on the yellow bhut..Thinkin scorpion more than bhut. see pics below.
Still bout a week or 2 before going inground. def excited. Lots of work ahead!

I was gifted seeds from Jedisushi06 that he got from pods he bought from Cmpman1974 last summer.
The Mean Red Cross was from what i researched supposed to be a naga cross of some sort.
I just loved the look of the pods. Mean and pimply. Turns out their hotter than hell!

Been slacking on the glog updates lately.
Todays update will be an explosion of yellow.
The Yellow Brains and the Billy Boy Doulglah Yellow have been ripening up lately.
Been sick for the last week and the brains helped keep my head clear so I could breath. allergies suck!
Lovin the brains! I did have a chance to cook with the Billy Boy Doulglah Yellow and it was surprisingly hot and fruity..
Didn't have the taste that normally Douglahs have. Went well in a few burritos I made.
Lets start with the photos...
 
Yellow Brain up first.



 
Next is the "Yellow Bhut". I'm leaning towards Yellow Scorp.


I'll chime in once I get a chance to taste one..
 
We'll follow that up with the Billy Boy Douglah Yellow.
Very happy with this pepper. Looking really brainy!
Tastes nothing like any douglahs I've had in the past.

Hi John
   It's been a while since I dropped in here, and your pods are looking excellent! You've had a few disappointments, but not many... good on ya! Things have finally warmed up enough here that I'm going to take my airpots outside during the day to let the plants in them get some honest-to-god sunlight, but I'm going to hedge my bets as well and bring them back inside at night until the overnight temps get to the 50's consistently.  Then the plan is to up-pot to the 5 gal. airpots with promix and Happy Frog tomato fertilizer, place them in their permanent home on the south side of the house and rig drip irrigation on a timer for them. Cheers!

Beautiful plants and nice photos! I am growing the not black naga from Chris. Last year it turned out to be one of my nicest plants. Wait till you get it outside. The pods you have pictured look like the shape I was getting late last season. Early in the summer,I was getting some intetesting pods off of it. It had about 4 phenotypes that it produced. Give it a ton of room if you can,mine swallowed up 3 other plants.
