These plants are both Peach Bhut WM x Jonah. The purple plant is the only one out of the whole bag that came out different. They're from WHP, so I know it's a reputable place. Either this is a surprise from the hybrid or a rogue seed of another variety. Either way, I'm extremely excited to see how it turns out! The second the purple guy popped out of the seed it was already purple tinted. The flowers have purple streaks and I'm currently waiting to see what the peppers look like...the first one is juuuuust starting to grow and I'm hoping it doesn't fall off like so many of my other plants are doing. They're all getting way too much rain and I can't do anything about it. 

None of my family cares about my purple pet, but I figured maybe you guys would understand my excitement. I'm debating about trying to keep a couple flowers isolated...if that's even possible...to save seeds without them being pollinated by my other plants. Also, ignore the spoon...tiny person lives here.

Your purple plant looks really cool.  The most likely explanation is that a Peach Bhut WM x Jonah flower crossed with an anthocyanin producing variety and you got seeds from that pod - so ((Peach Bhut WM x Jonah) x ???). Anthocyanin is dominant (both A and MoA) so it won't "hide" in a hybrid line.  Will be super cool to see what the pods on that guy look like and I hope you post pics.
 
And yeah, WHP is very reputable, but many of it's seeds are sold as "open pollinated," so such hybrids do occur. That's not necessary bad news though.  :)

I don't mind what I get out of these plants, I've never grown or eaten (blasphemy I know) hot peppers. I grew them for fun and a surprise is extra fun for me!
That makes sense about the crossing that you mentioned. I knew they weren't isolated plants by any means, I just never considered that they could be this different. I will definitely post pics of the peppers off the plant as they grow and ripen though!
 
Where did you get seeds from?

I got some BOC seeds; so far, none are growing true, but one has deep purple attend and branches, had purple leaves(now green) and the pods go from dark purple>lighter purple& green>green>red.

I got all of my seeds from White Hot Pepper. This one is just a fun little surprise. I'm excited to see if/what these change into.

I got some BOC seeds from a forum member.  The bottom branches of the plant grow what looks like the proper pheno.  However, all of the upper branches grow a bright red pod, that looks more like a Carolina Reaper.

There is literally one little wispy branch about 6" off the soil line that grows those orange, thin walled pods.  Everything above that is a mystery.

Yeah, that's where I got my surprise purple SuperHot seed from, too. I'm a huge fan of WHP, I'll never stop ordering from Justin, but I'm getting more surprises than sure shots this year, for sure. Lol

That's weird, but fascinating. I've had plants that has different "zones" for different shaped pods, but never one where the colors were different. Sounds interesting, for sure.

Considering the bleak, inky, black of that pepper, I’m thinking it should be named after H. P. Lovecraft and his Cthulhu mythology.

Somebody needs to develop a black 7 Pot variant, though.  "7 Pot Cthulhu"
 
It's gotta be at least in the top 5.  Or it's useless.

I apologize if anyone finds these updates annoying, this is just a very convenient way for me to keep track of this plant. Apparently the peppers are going from purple to green!

This plant has a ton of buds and little peppers on it. It might be the best producing plant I have...or I just pay more attention to it cause it's my favorite.
That little pink bag is my way of isolating a bud. Hopefully it works so I can save seeds for next year and see what happens. I'll probably switch the bag to another bud if/when this one is a pepper to make sure I have a good number of seeds. 
 
My last post, the peppers were turning green...they never actually went all green, and now they are switching to a red.

I've been unsuccessful in isolating any buds and having them actually turn into peppers. I don't know if I'm simply doing it wrong, or if the plant is finicky.  This is probably a stupid question, but if I were to overwinter this plant, the peppers that grow next season would be the same right? My growing season is nearly over, I'm not even sure there's more buds on this plant. I'm not even sure I have a place to overwinter this plant, it just really interests me and I'll be disappointed to not have anything from it for next year.
