Secret Project.........

Hi all,
 
I`be been very lazy about updating my grow this season. However, Stumpy is still alive and kicking and shown below. Took the photo July 29th, after I overwatered the little guy last week! 
 
I probably have easily enough material to check on the chromosome number, but we`re back to the lazy thing!!!
 
 
 
It looks like it needs some food if you ask me.
It's just about to branch off, right? Because it looks kinda odd compared to most plants that do that, Either the upcoming leaves are too big or something.
 
Glad to see that you at least have one that made it and by the looks of it,  its  doing ok it seems to have a little leaf curl going on. 
I hope you have a winner with it. Sept. I will be gearing up for my little exper.  I was hoping for Aug. but my granddaughters Birthday both fall in Aug. so no can do that month.
Nice Pic of the plant, what was the variety again?

Looking good there Nigel, Looks like Stumpy might just take off and throw out some pods, can't wait to see if any of the pods look different from the moruga blend.
I have to track down some Surflan as I can't find it now where they usually have it, I may have to make a run to the big city to get what I need, it will be a interesting experiment. 
 
I have a bhut that looked "special" like stumpy there when it first germinated, then it stalled while other plants shot past it, I almost culled it.  When it finally forked it forked in three directions and now is loaded with some of the gnarliest looking ghost pods I've seen.

Very cool. Tetraploids and above do occur naturally, albeit rarely. 
 
Can I have a part of leaf for tissue culture Nigel? I think it would make a more stable polyploid. Also, pic of four month old Stumpy is what got my teacher into the idea of the study, so thank you for posting it.

Yes of course. I`m not sure it is a tetraploid at all, as I have not done any karyotyping.

If you don't want to bother karyotyping, you could look at the stomata, which are usually larger in tetraploids. I'd personally do this, as I have a much easier time with microscopes than I do with chemicals and precise microscopes.
