Try posting in "growing other" or in marketplace you might get more response. I had a venus fly trap once and I think it ate about one fly a month. Can't see it guarding anything. Unless you feed it some kick arse growth hormones and you get one "Little Shop Of Horors" Style.

Hey Noshownate Im sorry to inform you but this plant will not do a great job of protecting your crop!
It is a very common mistake for people to make that the venus fly trap is a ruthless killer, but it really isnt.
It WILL catch flies/bugs etc but the trap will likely go black and drop off!!
There are other plants that will do a much better job, like marigolds (apparently?). Havent tried those myself!

I really didnt think that a venus fly trap would protect anything but i thought i would be a cool addition to my garden. wthanx for insight though
