Seeds from frosted pods

Get hit with the frost here last pretty good here in SW Pa.

Question I have is...

Are seeds still good in pods that were on plants that got frost bitten?

Also, quite a few of the pods were lying on ground, guess the frost did that to as well. They weren't there last night.

So another question I have...

One of the pods that fell off was a Bhut Jolokia x Butch T that was I hoping would make it awhile longer to ripen. It's not all ripe now. Orange with some yellow on tail. This one looks more Butch T than Ghost. Was a pod from the plant that I have from which the pods I called Ghost Tails came from. Not really want to lose the seeds. It is quite different.

Will the seeds be viable if pod is ripened off the plant ??? It is atleast half ripe.

Or is this hope for the best with the seeds ???

I'll post a pic of it later to see.

I do not know biology but I suspect that letting the pods ripen a little is a good Idea. The pods might ripen and give a little energy to the seeds---but I would not hold out for much hope with the seeds germination rate. Plant a lot of them and hope for 5-10% maybe.

you may end up with reduced germination so now knowing this plant more seeds to offset this, if they were not frozen too long or though and through that is

if they were frozen solid for too long the seeds are pretty much toast!!!
the ice crystals destroy the embryo

They weren't froze. So maybe better. Was on the backside of plant by my garage, so maybe ok. Just a few of them fell off. More where the frost got the plant the worst.

Hoping ok then. Guess will have to just let ripen out and see.

Believe it or not this is the pepper. No where near looks like a Bhut. Had 2 others awhile back like this but they had rot.

Here's a pic of the Ghost pepper plants after I cut off all the frost bitten leaves and stems.
The leaves were all soft, wilted and black. Hope not hurt.
Going to 72° here today and around 50/60° for day lows and around high 40's and low 50's at night all week.
One night got them.
