Sharing the love

I have some wonderful friends that live about an hours drive from me that grow as much of their own vegatables as they can. Lovely couple, we share taste in music and food and conversation, and they are intelligent and well read so we always enjoy getting together. Mike is fond of rum and hot peppers, as am I,and he is a fantastic cook besides, and Claire is a consumate gardener with a dry wit.

I brought them some of my scorpions and habaneros, they gifted me with some serranos. Mike was eager to try the scorpions, Claire approached this venture with some trepidation, as she was unaccustomed to chilies before meeting Mike, though they have found the number of serranos that can provide a comfortable level of heat for both of them.

Claire and I went to the garden and cut some collards that had survived the frost, and Mike got out the previously harvested onions and carrots and stir fried them with one of the CARDI's I brought. Delighted with the flavor and pleased with the heat level, Claire saved the seeds, and is planning on doing so with the other three I brought them as well. I made sure I picked one pepper off of each plant I had left in my kitchen, but cautioned her that, having grown next to the much hotter variety of Habaneros I had grown, they could have cross-pollinated and produce much hotter chilies than the parent.

To which she replied "Goodness, unprotected sex between scorpions and habaneros! I blush to contemplate it."
