container Should I upgrade to 5 gallon buckets?

I have 15-20 various pepper plants ranging from Jalapenos and Habaneros, to Reapers and Ghost peppers. Most of them are in 2.5 gallon pots, 12in wide. The rest of my peppers are sitting pretty in my raised beds

Nearly all of them are doing just fine, but I'm wondering if transplanting them to 5 gallon buckets would be worth the effort.

The bigger the container, the bigger the plant.

I bet you’ll be pretty happy with what you can get in 2.5 gallons, especially with the chinense. You won’t double production by doubling the bucket size… probably more like a 20-40% increase at most. The annuums might show more benefit, but jalapeños don’t need a ton of root space like some.

Personally, I’d leave them be and make any changes next year.

Tough call Jack. As healthy as your plants look, I probably wouldn't risk rocking the boat. But, if the name of the game is production, it is as Skullbiker says above - the bigger the pot, the bigger the plant, the bigger the harvest (hopefully ).

Make sure your buckets have good drainage. When I use 5 gal buckets I use a 3/4” hole saw and put 5 holes in them.
