Here's some more pics Allen. This is everything we picked (minus the 488 I'm keeping for myself) and minus all the pods that I've sold in auctions. we picked a total of 2281 pods :) if ya need help in another month or 2 you know where I'll be.

Great, I can always use some help picking. :)

Now if it would just produce some pods. ;)

The penos are Biker Billys grown from saved seed from last season. Well all are except the one large pod which is a Giant Jalapeno grown from seed I got from Judy. I'm trying to see if the Bikers are hybrids; the jury is still out.

I can't get enough fried okra. Last season I grew a full row, but this season I only have a little over half a row. Two seasons ago I had 2 full rows, but was trying out several different types and was buried in the stuff. After sampling several different kinds, I've settled on one variety now; Fife Creek Cowhorn.

Thanks, but size is relative. My garden is tiny compared to what I grew many years ago and very small compared to some other growers here. And I'm always running out of space.

Blasphemy!!!

I like it pickled too with some garlic and a few hot pods added to the brine.

Cut it into one inch chunks, dip it in an egg milk wash, roll it in cornmeal with a little flour seasoned with salt and pepper powder and deep fry it in vegetable oil at 370 degrees. My fave finger food and a little horse radish dip goes well with it too. :)

I see you have some dehydrator trays in the background. I also see that you just put the whole pod in there. I tried that once and the pods weren't even close after running the dehydrator for two days. How long does it take to dry whole pods like that, approximately of course?

That's a pic from a few years ago when I was using the dehydrator tray to display the pods for the shot. Large pods like those red habs get sliced in half for dehydration and smaller pods like the Datils pictured get a slit lengthwise down one side. Drying time varies with humidity, but on average it takes a day and a half when prepped as described.

I like your setup with the rows and hills. What are the measurements for your growing space? (length and width). I would like to do something similar next year.

Oh, okay. Cool. Thanks for the approximation. I'm still learning. :)

The whole garden is about 40' x 80' and the 4 rows of peppers are grown in a 20' x 65' space.

Which dehydrator do you use??

Hey Matt, I sent ya some pods to review, you should get them tomorrow. Looking forward to the vid. :)

I use this dehydrator http://www.sportsman...r.aspx?a=876424 as well as a Nesco FD-75PR with 9 trays.

I've been busy collecting seed pods for next season and enjoying this unusuall autumn weather in the middle of August. The dewpoint has been below 50 lately and I'm still hoping for a large Manzano pod set.
I'll increase row spacing again next year and plant a whole row of these to begin refining the selective breeding and stabilization of my chocolate hybrid.
Presenting the next chocolate contender, the brown bombardier, the tongue tormenting, throat trashing and soul searing visceral contortionist...

Silver_Surfer's Sepia Serpent F3

Well folks, our friend Silver_Surfer is the man. He has created some reDONKulous chilis, and I had the honor of trying one this afternoon...
Watch in HD!

Before you throw bricks, My audip and video sync is off..I will post another review soon, or commit seppuku.

This season has pretty much been a total 180 of last season. I have sent more pods for friends to review and it has felt great. I am happy to have had a good season (thanks to the guidance of friends on THP) and as a result I have had way too many to handle. So when I got this box in the mail it was such a great feeling. I have a ton of varieties growing, and this box was full of stuff that I have never tried, and even some I had never heard of! Silver_Surfer is a growing machine and really hooked it up! So this first review is on the Douglah X Scorpion strain one. It is a gen 3 pepper, and from the looks of the multiple pods he sent over, it looks pretty uniform, dare I say..stable??

On Taste. This one had a very good taste, which I was not expecting. It was a bit fruity, almost floral, and when I was expecting the Capsaicin flavor to take over, it didnt. The flavor was quickly overshadowed by the heat, but when it was there it was definitely enjoyable. I have had some NASTY douglahs, battery acid like, thank God it didn't have that taste!

On Heat. This was one of those supers that make you question the whole numbering game. It definitely wasn't the hottest I have had, but it was in the ballpark. The heat came on quickly and really attacked the throat. It had the typical Douglah-coal burn, and a bit of the scorpion tongue or mouth burn. There was a minute or two where I started to panic a bit, probably around the 1:30 mark, but I brought my Man Pants today, so I was ok. It had a lot of the physical impairments that I have had with previous pods of its caliber. It hit the outside muscles of the legs, hips, abdomen, and hands. I was really worried about stomach pain, since the brown pods almost ALWAYS hit me there, but looks like I beat that. Actually, absolutely NO discomfort or warmth at all....surprising....the next one will probably kill me....

Overall. On looks alone this is a must grow. It is absolutely gorgeous. I mean, it is symmetrical, its mean looking, and it is huge. It has a great flavor, with a nasty heat to match. I mean, a better question would be why WOULDN'T you grow it??

Nice job Matt, you handled the burn well. Enjoyed it!!!

I'll try and post some pics this weekend romy.

Watch Matt's vid meatfreak, he describes the flavor well.

Great grow, man! I haven't had a chance to check out your whole glog yet, but I most definitly will. Just wanted to say that I got some of your pods via Coheed and they are excellent, especially the Douglah x Choc Scorp.

But if I can ask, what is this PI 4something?
