Slater1980 2013

Hi to everyone :)

I'm going to start a glog for 2013 and I plan to finish it but I've got to have open heart surgery soon for a congenital bicuspid aortic valve.

I plan to grow less then half of the amount I did last year so it doesn't become such I commitment to look after the plants especially with all lifting of the plant pots you have to do to bring the plants back in at night to protect against frost.

I will have the help of my lovely girlfriend but I don't want it to become a chor for her to look after them if I can't.

I'm not a man of many words so I tend not to reply to questions with conversation starting answer but I really enjoy posting pictures and updates.

I hope you can all enjoy my glog.

I started by soaking my seeds in plain water for 6hrs,I got the water upto 29c before placing the seeds in water.

Martyn, your seedlings look absolutely fantastic! Thank you for sharing your progress on The Hot Pepper. I'm rooting :) for your pants to grow up strong and produce fruitfully. I find the use of "Biochar" fascinating and think it's pure class for you to have started your grow log this way. I'm familiar with your situation as my brother was born with the same condition. I'll be keeing you in my thoughts and prayers. It's going to be an amazing year for you, my friend. Matt

Thank you very much matt might your kind words :) the biochar seems to hold the moisture really well and apart from the odd big bit of biochar it's really fine and fluffy.has you brother had any problems with his valve ?

I've acquired more seeds stupidly,I really want to keep it smaller then last year but I can't help myself from sowing more :)

I've sowed 1 naga viper and 1 infinty and I've also got some royal black plus friars hat which I'll sow in a week or so.

I little update of progress of seedlings,I've repotted most into 9cm pots and that should keep them happy for a while I hope :)

Agreed the light is the way to go without doubt, even down here in sunny OZ i think starting them off this way doubles the size of your plants judging by how well your last seasons crop turned out in such a short season, i think you did an awesome job for your first attempt, better than my first go anyhow.

Mezo.

Thanks mezo, when you go back and look at older pictures and compare them you can indeed see the differance they make,I think you give them the best start in life by providing them with the one think that makes grow without them having to put any energy in to moving and stretching to find the light,
I think no matter where you are in the world it's the way forward.
