I wonder if it's gonna be a little more difficult getting plant out of the air pot when you want to go to a bigger one.
if fact, it should be far easier and cleaner to pot up. if you look at the picture, you see the light blue connector, that is what holds the pot together. look just to the left of that connector and you can see how the male nipple folds into the female input to create the pot. so, when you buy an air pot, you are buying an open sheet of this material, you then assemble it into shape and use the blue connector to hold it together.
so, to pot up, i would think you would water throughly, to keep the soil together. then pull the blue connector and pop the male nipple out of the female connector and simply unwind the pot. you should be left with a sold mass of medium showing roots and a whole bunch of holes from where the female inputs once rested. you then get a larger strip of air pot material and circle it around the existing mass, connect it with the blue connector. then, fill in with fresh medium. the only small issue that exists is if tupper used the round base, if he did, he would have to lift the medium from the existing base and place it onto the round base meant for the larger pot size before wrapping with the new airpot material. but that is assuming the round base was used.
looks like a fun experiment.
