Smart Pot

I have 12 plants in 10 gallon fabric pots and 2 in 5 gallon fabric pots. Been pleased with them, will switch out my 25 or so other plants to fabric over the course of the year.

May buy a couple 25 gallon pots for my favorite plants.

Check Home Depot site under Viagrow or Root Pouch, they have good prices and free shipping with 45 dollar order.

I was given a 10 gallon smartpot from a nursery in Tallahassee for free with my purchase. The guy there said with a snicker, "try this and I'll see you in a month..." anyway, I looked at it was not impressed - I thought that this was the biggest crock of crap and I might use it for a last minute seedling.

Well I ended up with a Caribbean red hab without a pot and I filled it up with just plain miracle grow and threw it in there...

Watered it along with the others and basically left it to itself like the others for a month - (we had a great spring rain schedule this year). Well there is another Caribbean red in a 10 gallon black plastic container with the same ole plain miracle grow. It is about 16" tall and 12" wide with maybe 20 habs. The smartpot Caribbean red dwarfs it ad is about 36" tall and 24" wide - the leaves on it are almost double in size and it has ~ 80 fruits set with new blooms set out daily.

He wasn't kidding, I went back and bought 15 more smartpots and I don't foresee using another type of container in the future.

I can't imagine if I would have given the plant decent soil...I'll post pics of the difference when I get back home.

DAMN IT!
Why you guys got to convince me that I need to spend more money. My wife is going to come home, see smart pots and kill me.

Well off to the store gents...

You can MAKE them too. Lots of different materials that you can use. Besides, they are cheaper than regular containers. When I go to home and garden stores, see 30 gallon pots for OVER a dollar a gallon, then go to hydro shops, see 65 gallon air pots for 20 bucks.....come on....

I got several 10 gallons this year, along with a 30 gal for a very special habanero plant. My Jamaican Chocolate Hab I started in December is currently in one of the 10s, and is quite a monster. I was sold on them last year after I got ahold of some 5s and one 7. Now I won't settle for less than 10.

Here are the pictures of the differences...
