I bought a bunch of non-ISO seeds from my favorite value-priced, transparent-about-open-pollination seed vendor, WHP. Last year, they all grew true except for two plants. I had a BOC plant throwing red pods and looked like maybe a BOC had crossed with some kind of 7pot the year before. And, I had a JPGS that produced red pods that looked kinda like Brazil Starfish but they tasted like Chinense and we're on hab-level heat. The plants had those unique JPGS leaves, looking wavy and elongated and study, so the off-pheno pods surprised me.
Bottom line, it was just the two plants, out of dozens. And, I grew multiple plants of each variety, so I still got true JPGS and BOC pods. The off-pheno/"not" pods were still delicious. In fact, my one buddy saved seeds from the not-jpgs pods, bc he apparently really liked them... But I bet he lost them or washed them on his jeans or some shit, bc I haven't heard about them since.
I understand the frustration of a grow going differently from how ya planned, but in the end, this is supposed to be about fun. Just eat those peppers and chalk this up to a lesson learned... [emoji3][emoji51][emoji3][emoji51]Right?
