So I made some salsa last night.

Well not made but added to what I had bought. I took a bottle of Hot Pace Picante sauce and putit in a food processor and added 8 Orange Habs and turned it into a paste like salsa mixture. It was damn good but after eating it last night my stomach has been totlly wrecked. Its been burning and it feels bloated. You think the two are related at all? Seriously.

I too have reached the point where it tastes like no big deal, but my stomach may wake me up at 2 am protesting the day's spice adventures.

No pain, but I guess mild discomfort just bad enough to make sleep impossible.

Next time save the $ and just put 4 fresh tomatoes, a clove of garlic, the 8 habs, some salt and maybe an onion in the food processor. Skip the Pace.

Awesome thanks for the recipe. Ill definately give it a try, sounds delicious.

All I can add is that I swear by the little purple pill, Nexium. I take one a day and have never had any of the above symptoms. I use to wake up in the dead of sleep with my stomach hurting and heart burn so bad that I thought my insides were burning up. Then if I belched, I would throw up a little in my mouth. My DR. said I had acid reflux and put me on Nexium. Simply put, amazing drug.

I used to take that and it did do the job, but IT gave me side effects sometimes upset stomach sometimes RLS when I was trying to sleep so I gave that up. Now I just deal with the after effects of my pepper obsession.

I hear ya' JayT. I usually reserve the super hot stuff for Fri and Sat nights and burrow in and mole up. A few habs don't bother me at all. 12-15 hab poppers on a Fri night? I don't leave the house until mid afternoon the next day. :mouthonfire:

Cheers, TB.

TB I was just reading about processed foods having the natural digestive
enzymes removed from them so they would have a longer shelf life and the relationship to acid reflux and other problems, it seems they hang around in your stomach too long and your system tries to compensate by pumping
in more acid to help digestion along. I would leave out the Pace and go with the fresh! Cheezydemon's recipe sounds like a good start!

Yes, but has it helped your antiquing or strolls?

You're forgetting the most important ingredient, cilantro! When I make my salsa, I use all of the above, plus some black pepper, and scallion. Also usually put in both some white and red onion.
