so, since I haven't been able to grown any bhuts...

By next week, I'll have expanded my current crop to:

Qty. 1 Trinidad Scorpion
Qty. 2 Chocolate Habanero
Qty. 1 Fatalii Red
Qty. 2 Bhut Jolokia

omg, omg, omg, omg...can't wait!

Sorry, just had to tell someone besides my co-workers who are all looking at me like I'm crazy...

Nice. sounds like fun. Whats been the prblem with the bhuts?

Well, I tried putting them in a small carton with potting soil on a heat mat, waited TWO months for the first batch...nothing. Second try I tried to germinate some seeds on a papertowel on a heat mat. I guess where I went wrong with both of them was too much water. So, I have a third attempt in a larger pot outside, the rest of my collected seeds...fertilizer, lots of sunlight, and not that much water. Hopefully, something will sprout, it hasn't been more than 2 weeks.

Are you allowing them to ever dry out? Do you know the temps the heat mat is producing? Here's how I do it. Three ounce dixie cup, coco fiber as a substrate. One seed in moist coco fiber set on an aluminum cookie sheet that is set on top of a heating pad. Temps stay around 83-85F. You cannot let it get dry. Shouldn't take more than two weeks. Best of luck with all of them.

Cool on the plants. Have a decent extra bih jolokia I'm thinkin on gettin rid of soon, to bad you ain't 'round SD.

I know what ya mean, Secretz. Every time I start talking about ANYTHING to do with peppers, everyone's eyes just glass over. They all just wait until I breathe during the conversation so they can change the subject.

I have some extra jiffy starting greenhouses, and 2 extra window sill seed starting greenhouses if youd like to try one. Otherewise I have some live plants Ive been shipping. they are pushing 10" to a foot now. If youd like a greenhouse and a few of the seed starting pellets let me know. Send me a pm and ill give you more details.

Yes, I've let them dry out on ocassion. The temp stays around 85 degrees. But I'll try your method the next time I get some seeds.

Totally, I wish everyone on this site was a bit more local. Ya know, actuallllllly, I wonder if chat has a webcam feature...? Pepper to pepper porn? heheh :hell:

Yeah, I'd be interested in possibly investing in a small greenhouse. Even though Cali doesn't get extremely harsh weather like the rest of the world, I do have to worry about the frost that winter decides to me. :(

The greenhouses I am talking about are seed starting greenhouses. Jiffy 72 cell setups, and I have a smaller one to start 10 plants that you put in the window seel. I also have a self watering one left.

I'll have to pass this time. I was hoping to build something for existing plants.

So I got my new babies today. All of them look pretty good except the fatalii. :( Hopefully, with some babying it'll bounce back. *crosses fingers*
