soil Soil Testing

So, I want to correct my folk's soil before planting this year. Is it best to test their soil first or just add all my stuff to it to make it beer in a blind attempt to make it rich.

Also, is there a place to go to have tests run on the soil to tell what it's deficient in?

I figured you'd be the first to post.

Think it's worth it?

If you want it right, the extension service is the way to go...just tell them what you want to grow and they will probably have some helpful hints on what to do...

Around here, that would be the easiest.

How wet is the soil where you are?
We're still sinking when we walk on it. This rain we're getting isn't helping any either.

It's like a swanp right now. All the snow just melted and we've been getting rain showers.
