Some bits and bobs from my travels....

Been travelling since September and got back home on xmas day. Was trying to hit a few birds with one stone with this holiday, so i had a stint in Peru, London and Tokyo. Dont have anything to show from Tokyo atm.... did get myself a few little souvenirs but spent more time looking for gifts for friends.....
 
Here for me is a few things for cooking from Peru..... Aji Amarillo paste, Aji Panca paste, Rocoto sauce, Crema Aji Amarillo, Crema Rocoto.....
 

 
3 cookbooks.... Cajamarca/Ancash/Lambayeque are all provinces in Peru.... these are books have history and recipes of the area,,,,
 

 
3 more cookbooks... bargin at about $1 a pop.... has recipes from Sierra (Andes), Costa (Coast), Selva (Jungle) regions....

On the left is a combo pack of Scotch bonnett sauces i bought from a lovely African lady in Greenwich Markets, London.... cant wait to crack these open, i had a taste test before buying.... delicious and HOT....
....Also the hottest Levi Roots BBQ sauce i came across and a Jamacian bonnett sauce called Pukka Sauce... sounds deceptively English....

Couple more Peruvian Cookbooks in English... middle one i actually bought in Peru.... a load more chilli sauces was bought and opened but left it all with the friend i was staying with....

Nice! Did you bring all of that back in your luggage? Customs here in the states would have snagged all the sauces if I had got them, they go crazy if you bring that stuff in from a foreign country, god you'd think it was a bomb.

Thats certainly been on the cards for a while now, but will have to wait until at least next season. I do have a few rocotos still grafting away from last year.... yeilded one pepper from three plants so far lol

Australian customs have very strict guidelines on what you can bring in. Generally commercially produced products are fine, anything that resemble a perishable good will not be. I err on the side of caution and declare everything, its when people try and sneak stuff through they tend to get into trouble. This time they didnt even check my bag, guy filled out the form for me, waved me through and wished me a merry xmas.

Japanese people as a whole are very kind friendly people, their culture is certainly different to what im use to in Oz. From my experiences as a whole i couldnt speak highly enough of them.
 
I love Peru. Been there before and hopefully will return in the future. There is just too much to see and its a country with an incredible amount of history. Of course the food is fantastic too.
