sp33d DIY air prune pot grow glog 2014 (update 9-10-2014)

Plenty of peppers on your plants. 8" of rain and 51 for the temp sounds like shades of October. We got a bit yesterday but not enough. Pods here are starting to ripen up fast with new flowers and small pods on the way. The grow here can run into mid October with no problem...as long as the frost stays away. When does your outdoor grow shutdown ?

A couple years back I cloned a small Caribbean Red branch about 8" long that had 4 green pods on it. The pods ripened red indoors under flouros and the plant grew through the winter and was replanted outdoors. Very dense with many nodes and pods that year. I know I have a photo of the plant, and feel I have one of the cloned branch.....somewhere.
The Chocolate Bhut will get big indoors..

sometime in October would be the end of our season here....wish it was much longer but what can I do..oh yeah I can grow indoors with my homemade DWC hydro system in my grow tent...

warning stupid question alert!!!

ok i know i can grow a pepper plant in a 3 gallon pot with out any issues and still get it to be about 3 or 4 feet tall and wide. the air pots make the root ball thicker, fuller and more robust, now what my stupid question is, can i grow this same pepper plant in a smaller pot? will the air prune pots allow me to grow this 4 foot by 4 foot pepper plant in a 1 gallon air prune pot or a 2 gallon air prune pot, i am trying to figure out the best way to grow my plants next year with out costing hundreds of dollars for dirt and pots,

Good question...I have never do e that so I think the best method would be to just give a try and see what happens ...I bet you can do it..

i am going to give it a shot, see how small of a pot i can grow a full sized plant in lol. ill start a glog on it when i start it

Question for the pepper pros...

Without any obvious reason such as disease, nutrient deficiency, weather etc...
flower/pod drop could be due to either not pollinating or the plant just not being able to support that amount,of flowers/pods, or combination of both, Is that a correct assumption?

in my opinion, you are correct, some times the plant pushes out more buds then it can handle. and eventually drops some. most of the time though it is because of something else. like lack of water or nutes or something esle. but this is my opinion. ive been growing peppers for years, not all super hots.

i think they push out more then they can handle as a fail safe, if the first 40 buds dont grow and pollinate then the next 40 will type of deal. kind of like ensuring they continue their lineage

I wouldn't put it out there as the ultimate truth, but I'd argue it over a beer...

I think that as long as conditions favor it, plants will keep on putting out all the flowers the nodes are able to. If they're pollinated they usually stick around for a little bit, but if the root ball/leaf canopy can't support them, they turn yellow and fall off. That's why I try to grow the roots as much as possible before planting outside. The leaf canopy will rarely exceed the size of the root ball.

Glad to see your Chinense pods are getting bigger Tony. :dance:

Hopefully they ripen up for ya in the next few weeks... things are starting to wind down here...

Thanks bud...if that is true which I believe it to be then my green hab root ball is huge because it's canopy is about 2 1/2 feet wide...

Well it's almost September so our season will be coming to an end in the next 6sh weeks...maybe a tad longer...so that means I might be starting my indoor grow tent DWC glog which will result in a tent chocked full of peter peppers...

...setting up tent tonight..stay tuned, still on the fence about even posting another glog...

These chocolate bhuts can't ripen fast enough, I'm drooling over here...

These were labeled as "yellow mini bells" but they look orange to me, maybe they will ripen to yellow...anyone have any input?

Cherry sweet peppers...the last ones I pickled and they were damn good..

Carmen sweet peppers...these are so good when stuffed..

Green habs...this plant has huge leaves on it..I'm not saying it is the biggest ever but for me personally it is pretty big ...

And lastly my girl is going pretty good after I upgraded the light for her...she's under a 250w MH now..

Your plants are looking awesome, sp33d. Especially that chocolate bhut. I bet you'll be seeing brown on that plant by Labor Day. I'm thinking your "yellow" bell plant was a mixed up seed. I, personally, have never seen a pod ripen from orange to yellow. Maybe it's possible, but I doubt it.
You better start a glog for your DWC grow! How the hell else do you expect me to make it through winter?!
