spicy alcohol

Alright I've read some of the other threads on pepper infused vodka, but either missed or didn't see what peoples results have been. What peppers should I use? Orange Hab's (fresh) are the hottest peppers I know I can get hold of. Is vodka the only alcohol that I can use or can I use say Gin, Tequila, Rum, something else? If I take a bottle of cheap vodka and cut a couple of habs in half and use those will it be hot enough?

What have you used or found success with?
