Substituing in compost tea

Hello ! I read you could compost tea for plants and one of the main ingredients is Molasses, my question is, could I use Brown sugar instead of the molasses? I Live in Tijuana Mexico, don't know if they sell molasses. Thank you!!!!!
 
Unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses has a lot more than just sugar. I bet you could find it. Brown sugar wouldn't kill your plants, you're just not getting the added Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, etc..
