seeds Success on saved seeds

Those are some good looking ghost pods. I can see why you saved seeds. I always scrape seeds onto a paper towel then twist it up and put a clothes pin on the top. I let it sit on the kitchen counter for 2 or 3 weeks, Then I transfer them into small plastic bags. I've been using this method for years, and have been very successful. How do you save your seeds?

About the same way you do.

That's the pod the seeds came from real narley looking.

Does any one ferment seeds to save them?  I have been placing seeds in a small cup and adding water.  I let that sit for one day and then stir.  Pour off any seeds that are not sitting on the bottom of the cup and add more water.  Let that sit another day, rinse, stir, repeat.  I dry them on a paper towel then store.

By doing it this way, I was under the impression that I was getting rid of any bad seeds and likely improving germination rates.  I grew some banana peppers this year after saving the seeds from a pepper I bought in the store.

All I do is put the seeds on a paper plate for about two weeks to dry then put them in small Jewry bags I'm having
About 90% germantion rate using peat pellets and a dome.

A lot of bad seeds do float but some don't.  Also some good seed may end up with an air bubble stuck to it and float.  I don't do this test myself, only saving seeds from good looking pods then sewing at least 3 when I use them so if germination rate isn't 100% the odds are still very high that every pot will have at least one sprout, with the secondary benefit that when it comes time to thin them I cull the weak and leave the best looking two, then later one.
