About how many peppers make an ounce?

Sounds about right. There are some variables, like whether the seeds were removed, what breed of pepper used (as each has a different wall and placental thickness, etc), and others, but the general rule of thumb is a pound gives you maybe one-two ounces of powder.
I would if i didn't have thousands of pods ripening. Lol.. I'm picking every couple days and have more than i know what to do with.
Same "problem" here.
I think it has to do with the dinner references "supper". 
It is prime growing season for many of us as we have an abundance of pods already. Fresh this time of year does better because that allows people to taste stuff they are not growing.
