I purchased Carolina reaper seeds from totally tomatoes and started them in March. I put one of the 3 plants in the ground in May but after seeing I had more room I put the other 2 in the ground a few weeks later.
The main plant is doing really well and has a lot of flowers and a few peppers about 2in long but after looking online at pictures they don't appear to look like Carolina reapers. I'm 99.999% sure I didn't mess up when planting the seeds. I went and checked the other 2 plants and while they're growth is stunted (compared to plant 1) they too have flowers and a couple small peppers that look the same.
Maybe it's too early to tell but now I'm paranoid I messed up and planted the wrong seeds.
Pictures: plant 1 peppers, plant 1, seed packet, peppers from smaller plants
