Went to Taaj Palace @ Eubank & Constitution last night for a dinner buffet and noticed a new sign announcing "Extremely Hot Phaal Curry available by request" so we inquired and ended up getting a half order to test it out. We were pleasantly surprised by the heat level, which was actually pretty hot, because most restaurants claiming their food is hot must be referring to the temperature it's served at or underestimate some peoples tolerances for capsaicin.
The dish had to me what seemed to be a strong chinense flavor with a nice lingering burn. I asked what pepper they were using and all I could understand was they were using a liquid from England. I assume it was a puree but it could be a strong sauce I guess but no extract was detected.
Thumbs up to this place for actually understanding what hot really is. I can assure you if you want hot Taaj Palace can help you out. The food was good, staff was friendly and service was adequate.
