The Aji Teapot - Yellow

This one was sent to me by Jim O`Conner. The seeds were from AjiJoe, who originated the Aji Teapot strain. I reviewed the original Aji Teapot last year (see below) and this Yellow version is new.
 
This is another pepper with delicious, fresh and citrusy aromas. Although thought to be either a chinense or even chinense x baccatum, this yellow pod had a very distinct baccatum-like essence.
 
the initial flavor was sweet and citrusy, similar in many ways to an Aji lemon drop, but with an undercurrent of C.chinense-like flavor, leading to a black-pepper like taste and effect. In one word, fresh!
 
The heat was higher than I expected, probably more than twice that of an Aji Lemon Drop or Aji Pineapple. In fact the heat was also quite aggressive, similar to some C.chinense, but with the warming heat of a baccatum. It`s interesting that the essence of both baccatum and chinense is apparent in both flavor And heat, which is very cool!

Well, I wasn't expecting this review!  I want to say that my plant was rather short and bushy, very unlike the other ajis I grew which were tall and somewhat spindly.  This teapot also could have benefited from a short tomato basket, to support the smaller branches which were rather incapable of supporting the weight of the numerous pods.  I think it would be a fabulous container plant.

Good review as always, and I never get tired of hearing a dog lap up a bowl of water. Such a cool sound.
