seeds The Darkening or Purpling of Seedling Leaves...

I thought that there was a thread on this not too long ago, but could not find it via the search feature.

Do CFLs cause leaves to darken or purple as on this seedling:

What would be causing it?

some chile plants do this in defense of too much sunlight, also the pods, or it might just may be normal for that species of chile ?
I wouldnt worry about it.

Bright lights also make your soil green on top. At least more than LEDs do- I've found.
Good job on the nice clear close-up there.

Thanks for the link Tex. That was the thread that I was searching for but could not find.

Yeah, the plants appear otherwise healthy so I'll just chalk it up to the lights.

My goat's weed is doing it bad, it looks pretty kick ass actually. Although it's turning more blackish than purple. I attribute this to the fact that it produces some chemical that turns it's fruit black as well.

there are several others doing it too, and they look just like yours

Your goat's weed does look kick-ass! It's a gorgeous plant.

Do you grow under CFLs also?
