The Fluorescent Grow Challange...

Ok I'm not sure where I read 30 unless that date was changed. Either way 60 would make sense if your looking to get seeds out.

I should have pics of my set up by this weekend. I am doing a triple mini setup and will have a couple growing in DWC, a couple growing in ebb and flow, and a couple growing in soil. I had wanted to do something like this before this challenge came up to compare the pros and cons of each. The hydro setups are homemade ones I am putting together instead of the commercial ones I already have on hand. I will work on pics and supply lists of them for those who may want to make there own to save money.

I am interested in these results. Especially if there will be comparo's of hydro and soil and I hope several of those in the challenge are doing hydro.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm getting anxious to get this thing started.

...Just waiting on the seeds and Nov 6th! Then it's on!

Thanks again to onefowl for providing the seeds that make this thing possible.

Indy :onfire:

Me too oh wait I have my seed already so just waiting for the 6th. Many of you should get them tomorrow or Sat and some may have them already. Funny or sad story depending on how you look at things I ordered seed from over seas the same day I shipped them out to everyone and I got them today in the mail. postmarked 3.50 for shipping and it gets here in 2 days and we mail domestic and it takes that long or longer.

Okay we talked about ribbing and what not for this so here is a little taunting. today is day 59 from my first seed planted back in Aug. and I noticed one of my yellow Manzano plants has its first flower bud forming at only 10 inches tall and grown mostly under a 4 foot twin florescent T12 fixture. this is 59 days from seed not transplant and under poor lighting. What can I achieve under a total of 350 watts of T8 lighting in a grow box with a short season type?

Now a Bhut Jolokia grown under the same conditions.

I do not think they look that stretched for growing mostly under the T12 lights.

Onefoul1 lookin goot, I see ya have an Orchid tree in there too. The one by the lake is 30 foot or so and something to see in bloom.
Yep its an Bauhinia but one of the bush ones not a tree. grows about 3 to 5 feet tall. I am growing several different species of them from small tree to bush to even a vine type.

Wow under the new light system I am using for the grow contest this is a pic 24 hrs later of the yellow Manzano. Also all three have now split out to multiple growing points. We will just have to see is the buds mature to bloom or fall off.

That fuzzy one is wild looking. Great thread.

Okay I promised the required pics of the intended setup area for the grow challenge. I am keeping other plants under it and running the hydro units now to work out any bugs before the contest starts.

Hey, y'all, I'm finally back in here.

Hopefully onefowl1 sent me some seeds. I want to grow the same as everyone else. I already have a set up in the basement and will be adjusting things for the seedlings.

Don't look at the horrible wiring, it was done in a matter of a couple hours and just in time for the plants. The night after they got moved inside it froze. I'll put one of the lights on longer chains and put the starts on a table.
