This can not be a "Habanero"!

Found this badboy in the box of "habaneros" at my local green grocers, amongst a box of mostly  mixed red habs, some big like congos, some are smaller, round and with more ribs.,, Then there was this badboy.

What do you guys think? It is definitely hotter than the average hab, not floral, not lemoney, just plain hot.

Could somebody's Gourmet Jigsaw be missing a piece?

It is not nearly as blistery as the showcase chillies, but is certainly quite gnarly, and about as hot as a Dorset Naga.

That looks like the Komodo dragon pepper, which hit the UK a year or 2 ago.

Thanks, that could well be... but the chillies here tend to have been imported.

Either way, that thing was sizeable, has bit of a kick followed by a fairly serious throat burn. Needless to say, seeds have been saved for the 2017 season.

Looks like this one is grown by a grower in the UK. I believe the same guy has just bought the Carolina Reaper to the UK and is growing them as well. Its nice that you saved seeds.  :)

The Komodo Dragon was a low level super that didn't meet its ridiculous "Hotter than the Reaper" claims, tasted increadibly floral and could look like just about anything due to genetic instability.
If it's not floral that's not the Komodo. Not that I have any other ideas. You get a crap-tonne of weird mutants in market baskets. I'll never forget the triple-sized, static-sensationed super pretty and seriously hot Scotch Bonnet I had. Such a shame the seeds didn't make it.

It was effing-blindingly hot, that's for sure. A bit lemoney but mostly a punch-in-the-face hot that (thankfully) lasted about 10 minutes.

I keep the seeds of the "crazies" from those market boxes. If you are after seeds from the bigger pods, I can send you a few. Drop me a PM. :)
