Hi Folks,
got another one which I'm trying to ID, but it's from a respectable online company this time, not from the local hobby grower. Looks like a seed just crept into the wrong packet .
It's supposed to be capela yellow, but from what I've read, they are small and have a good deal of heat. The largest of these pods was around 4 inches long and 2 inches wide at the stem.
Since they hadn't changed size or appearance in over 2 months leading me to believe they were fully ripe, I tried one about 6 weeks ago and discovered that the taste was rather bland with not much heat at all. With nothing to lose, I just left the rest of them on the plant to see what happens.
Now, over 4 months after they first appeared, one of them is taking on a kind of orangey hue. Since I want to wait and see how it ends up, I have no idea whether the taste has changed significantly. Just wondered if anyone out there recognises the pods in the meantime.
