Ok all, the topic of green pods comes along or is mentioned rather often. This subject straddles the line between "hot pepper talk" and the "Growing" forum.Lets adress 3 questions:
1) Does picking developed or nearly developed pods cause a plant to throw more fruit later in the season?
2) What is the most effective way to induce the "turn"(ie to ripe color/condition) and over what time frames is this practical?
3) What effect does picking green have on the seed development and taste?
AND BECAUSE WE LIKE PICS...
The pic shows some "not quite Datils",Choc bhuts,Nagas,Fatlii, yellow 7's, Spicy Mustard and choc Habs....these are now 2 1/2 weeks off the plants, bobbing around on the MSV Ocean Intervention III in the Gulf of Mexico .There were twice as many, half turned, and half got brown funk/dried too much to ripen. The Nagas, C Bhuts, and Fatallis are the bad boys here-all but 2 have turned(and were promptly consumed)the Not Datils(none of these really ripened completely)and yellow 7's tied for last place....that really is just explaining the req'd picture -lets concentrate on the questions......
cheers all-
